Bam Pop!
Now I have always enjoyed looking at the range of ‘Bam Pop’ papers but have never been tempted to buy them as I could not see what I would do with them but when my DT kit arrived from Angel Crafts for this month it was time to face the challenge.I have had on the back burner for some time the idea of a mini book about Nicholas and all the photographs I have of him dressed up in various costumes and the other pictures of him just pretending to be someone straight from his imagination. He has an amazing imagination, he needs no toys of dress up clothes to take us into his hilarious little world of make believe.
Often two of his little fingers turn into ‘Man’ and I have to get my ‘Lady’ to come out to play, priceless moments and not a fancy toy or gadget in sight! These are the moments I wanted to capture and these are the moments I made a mini book full of. This altered cigar box is home to the album ‘When I grow Up I Want to Be’ and Bam Pop patterned papers found a home.
PrincessI share with you here just a few of the pages. I have more to add to the 20 or so I have done. I hope when he is grown he will look back at some of these fondly and forgive me for including the ones of him dressed up in his sisters princess/dress outfits hahah!
WriterSome of these pages reflect those moments in time that should not be forgotten. Like when he was lying on the floor in the hall with his Dad. Pencils in hand, pretending he could write and telling us how he would be a good writer when he grew up. Priceless….
ArtistMost of the pages are very simple, but they are a reflection of the moments that both Andrew and I have relished in him. Our other children never did any of this at this age. They had other problems to deal with although it did come together eventually, it was very different experience to raising Nicholas. I hope our obsession with all things Nic are understood by those who matter to us, I am certain it is.The box for this project took the longest time. The chipboard letters and shapes were all painted and triple embossed with UTEE, a long job but the end result I thought was worth it. The box sits on legs of clear buttons also from Angel crafts
Front of the Albumand I added little felt pads to the feet so it can sit on my table or dresser without scratching as its pulled across for viewing by the kids for the million’th time
The top handle is a 7 Gypsies book knob, attaching that was a challenge, had to search for a longer screw, but also worth it in the end.
In ConstructionI have just had a peak at the new release from Bam Pop, it was on Angela’s blog, more mad patterns but a few I think I will now need to complete this project.
LayaboutUntil Later xx…

Totally understandable obsession, but all of your kids know they’re equally loved…and will in the future probably appreciate the fewer incriminating early-years photos!

I love it! Like you, those papers would have given me a few problems but you have made something very special and I’m sure all of your children will appreciate it.
