Today I begin a new photography workshop put together by the wonderfully talented Cheryl Johnson of ‘Feel Good Photos’. I am so thrilled to be part of this and today we launched and our first assignments have to be uploaded to forum at ‘Feel Good Workshops’.

Now, this first one kills everyone but needs must and our merry band of delegates have been taking their own self portraits this week and crowing at the results, what a laugh!

Mine is here, taken at midnight in my make shift studio using my lights and reflector. I was so short on time this week that this would be the only ‘peace’ I would get so here it is. I actually think it is very ‘me’, wither I like it or not, this is actually what I look like LOL!

Next up for our portfolios were two favourite photographs and two that brought disappointment.

RoseSnow.jpgThis was not so easy either but hey ho this is one of my favourite shots from this year so far (that is not a portrait LOL, I have tons of those) My adventure in the snow in early January was one of the best photo days I have had and I live off these shots still for a variety of projects and some of these did very well for me at the clubs competitions. Regular readers of my ramblings will have seen this before.

ChelseaOutdoors.jpgThis next favourite was only taken last month and has appeared on this blog in a variety of forms already, mini book, layout, and I will never tire of seeing Chelsea in this shot.

Next up were the disappointments, not hard to find on my hard drive. I never delete all my rubbish as there is so much to learn from your shots, good or bad. With today’s technology on my computer I can see exactly which settings were used (I could never remember each shot by memory alone)  and can make notes to learn from my mistakes for next time.

This first awful shot is one of many, you know that moment on your kids birthday, place is full of people, all singing ‘Happy Birthday To You’, lights are down, I have someone other than me elected to bring in the cake so I can take pictures….and this is the result! Such a small window of opportunity to get it right and I fail consistently at getting a shot of lights down, candles lit, bummer or what?

Wedding.jpgNext up is a picture from a wedding I was at in February. The wedding was at 5PM so outdoor photographs were difficult at best as it was dusk, you set up the shot (Trying not to interfere with the photographer) and snap, I only got someone’s darn shoulder in the frame, moment gone, again!

Such is life eh?

So these are my portfolio shots for the start of the course. I am really looking forward to this, Cheryl is a super talented contemporary photographer and if I can learn a few creative tricks over the next 10 weeks I will be very pleased.

Lots of other stuff going on and around me at the moment, not all great, thinking of cyber friends again today who were upset and distressed at events yesterday1, lots of projects on the go but all that will have to wait for another day. Today is about photographs and my in laws are arriving this afternoon so I best move and sort my house out ;)

Hope you are all well

Until later xx…
