Design Recollections

MY DT Entry for Angel CraftsToday is a day for new and exciting projects. First off I won myself a place on Angel Crafts Design Team, yes I actually did win it! I was not invited to join, I applied like everyone else despite my friendship with Angela. I was not invited directly I believe because I had said on several occasions that I did not want to do anymore DT work. I wanted to make sure I could handle what I had and do it to the best I could. That said, I harboured a wish to try for one particular company and held out hoping I would get a chance to enter. That did happen last year and I started and planned my entries very carefully, I really wanted this one. Circumstances went against me and my Mum took ill the week the subs were due I was 50 miles away most of the time. I never got to send them, I was very disappointed and have only ever mentioned this to very few people until now. I, not for one minute , thought I would get the place but not to have entered at all left me sad. It also left a space I thought I could fill.

So the reason I mention it today is to explain why I was a) previously unavailable  and b) Then applied to Angel Crafts. I took everyone by surprise by doing so it seems lol!  Not that I need to explain this to anyone but I can here the jungle drums now "She got in because they are friends". I applied in the same way everyone else did and won my place fair and square I believe. I worked hard on my submissions and never once did I think my place was a ‘given’.   The layout is at the top and the Girlie Treasure Chest I posted the other day was the 2nd project.

I am grateful and thankful to Angela for the DT place and her very kind words about my submissions. I am looking forward to doing my best for her in the time ahead.

Stage 1 - Altered BookOther new projects start today as well. I have been harbouring a book to alter and this morning made a start on the cover. I was outside spraying colour wash and now my drive has some lovely tones across the pebbles LOL! I also stiffened a few of the pages inside for the first few planned entries. I have a few things for the front cover set aside but need a little something I have not found yet, but I will.

The Title I am toying with is -   HeART of Me

I also started to rub down and prep my printers drawer in readiness for the start of the project. I have a theme of ‘Childhood’ in my mind and although I waiver a little with this I think that is where I am going with it.

3 CJ’s have turned up today, all stunning and now on my to do list. The list stays the same length no matter how hard and fast I seem to work, guess that is the same for all crafters eh?

Today is of course Valentines Day. I had made cards for all the children and even stuck on recycled stamps in a bid to fool them lol! It didn’t work with the older two but the little ones fell for it heehee! 2 out of 4 is not so bad.

Andrew did not forget and I got this lovely card this morning. He seemed to be quite touched by his gifts of the Memory Glass Frame and Domino Book - Words of Love. I doubt he would have said anything even if he didn’t like them  ;)

So with the sun shining and much to do, I am off to whizz around my chores , do lunch, Nic to nursery and maybe a little more playtime is in order.
