I seem to spend my time looking for answers to questions right now. So many things I seem to want to know! My blog was home to a question or 2 on my new Light Cube yesterday so I am going to stop searching for answers to my own questions and take a moment to answer this one.

Light Cube
A light cube is a fabric ‘pop up’ tent that you surround with lighting. It’s purpose in life to to provide a properly lit backdrop for photographing still life objects. Don’t fancy trying to put a baby in there lol!  Although there are sizes that go all the way up to small studio size for portrait photography. figureone.jpg There are lights positioned on both sides and from above. in some cases.

I bought this to cover a few projects that I am working on and for future plans too. I have been testing it out on scrapbook pages (It takes a 12 x12 easily) and other items such as this figurine.010107 035.JPG

The idea is to produce an infinity background so the item appears to ‘float’. Think I am getting the hang of it now and finding the right camera settings to make it work. It works well on many objects and has 4 colour backdrops. Red, Blue, Black and White.

I bought these Banana Frog stamps in the new year sale and they were promptly dumped into the cube for a picture lol. Varying the objects and their reflective qualities brings new photographic challenges and steep learning curves once more ;)

As if I had not enough challenges on my plate I spent a few hours last night taking shots of a wonderful full moon that I could see clearly outside my house. This was quite a technical challenge and this shot is one of the results. I was so pleased with it, it is the best results I have ever had doing this and I have tried a few times before.

My Christmas journal is still a work in progress and I have added all the new pages to the Shimelle gallery. The 28th was 771114-561915-thumbnail.jpg
Recollections of 2006
about my indulgences with festive food. The 29th was a prompt to complete your first page, but as I had already done that, I need to come up with something to fill this one. I have dated each entry and it may appear one was missing if I miss a date. The 30th addresses looking back at 2006. I have said before I am not a looking back kinda gal so I wrote about my 2006 Recollections, much more me! A year is not without its lows so I did include a couple to present a more balanced view but I really don’t want reminded of the sad/bad times. I want to remember the highlights and these little doors open to reveal a recollection from each month of the year past. ( I photographed it before I wrote anything inside)

So much is still in progress and as this weekend arrived it brought reality with it. Andrew went back to work today. The Tree and decorations are almost down and Monday sees the 3 older children return to school. Life returns to normal.

Bah Humbug!
