Well today was not so bad after all. Ok it did not start well but that was just a muck up. I arrived at My Mums around 11AM to find that I could not open the door with the key she gave me. She did say it was a bit sticky but 40 minutes later I was losing the will to live! I went and picked up my brother who came and had a try but he could not open it either. So off we went to the hospital and collected another key, this time I got in! But that little episode took 2 hours out of my day Grrrr!

I went into Mums and set about cleaning out the fridge and emptying bins etc that no one had touched in all the time she has been in hospital, left me a bit speechless if truth be told. I set off with my air freshener and opened all the windows and doors in a bid to blow out the staleness and be as free of smoke smells as possible before I brought her home. I raided the place looking for extra cigs but found none and the ashtrays I buried under the kitchen sink at the back. Ok, time to go get her…..

Got back to the hospital around 1.30PM and she was sitting tucking into lunch. She still could not leave as her medication had not arrived but it was not long before it did. Once home I got her settled back in and sorted out her things, so far, so good.

Now the tricky bit, how to lecture your own Mother in such a way that she does not get the right humpf and switch off. Well it was something not that short of a miracle that she took everything I said quite well. I was firm but polite. I told her that all of us were pinning our hopes on her continuing the great job she had done so far in not smoking (like she had a choice lol) and we needed her to carry on as we would rather she lived a little longer and really that is what it all came down to.

I have left her in what appeared to be a positive frame of mind but I know at first hand how hard it is when the nights are long and sometimes you can’t seem to occupy your hands any other way. But my parting quip was "Don’t pick up a cig, pick up the phone"…

My brothers went in this evening and she was fine, no smoke, no cigs, so far, so good!

After a diversion to get keys cut (had to be done, no way am I going through that again) I finally hit the road at 6PM only to get stuck in accident traffic and not get in until 7.30PM.  I just made it in time to see Nicholas before bed, I feel I have hardly seen him at all this week, or Andrew and the other kids for that matter. However we are having a day together tomorrow. We are taking Nic swimming and then out for lunch, looking forward to that. I have all weekend with the kids on my own to look forward too ;)

Advent Calendar
The rest of my evening has been spent finishing off an advent calendar. I got this idea from Roz, who had gotten it from someone else. I thought it a fab idea! 1 down, 3 to go hahah! Another chance to use the new BG Fruitcake papers YUM! I stamped the cardstock with a lovely scrapclub holy stamp around the edges and the rest of the background is Blonde Moments Tree’s and Baubles, oh and I squished Fa la la la la on there too. You can just see peaks of the background between the pockets, I am glad I bothered doing it as IRL it looks better than when it was plain.

Next project up is my Lippy Chick book and some sample Christmas Cards I need for a class I am taking on Monday morning. I still have not done the International Dare either but this last week has run away from me! Maybe I will get in fitted in before the next one at 11PM tomorrow night LOL!

I have not checked up on any blogs this week so far, I don’t think, but I will over the weekend fellow bloggers, I just need 5 minutes to catch my breath and now I need to go catch up and then ZZZzzzzzzzzz

Take care xx
