Do you believe in the pleasure - pain theory?

Yesterday was a day of two halves, pleasure & pain…….

The day started badly with a phone call or 10 over arrangements for my local woman’s group that was supposed to start back on Monday. Thanks to the thoughtless of community learning services we are now meeting at my house. (Having sorted the let myself, we are fine from the week after, made me late though grrrr!!)

While taking one of the calls on this subject, I happened to glance down at my left hand to find the diamond from my engagement ring missing!! Now that just takes the **** Last year my wedding ring snapped and is still to be replaced. After Nicholas’s arrival, my husband bought me an eternity ring. He brought it back from South Africa and 2 weeks into wearing my diamond and sapphire ring a diamond fell out! He managed to get to returned and back it came in good order, only for the same things to happened again within weeks. Now here I am sitting with NONE of things very expensive rings I own. I am heartbroken. Andrew said “Don’t worry, they are insured!” I despair.

Lunch on Loch Lomondside with Andrew and Nicholas raised a smile once again. Shame it was a bit wet but we enjoyed some lovely food, Red Onion Tartlet and Sirloin with chunky Chips, (Jennifer Ellison has a sin to answer for lol) and each others company. Nicholas loved watching the yachts and boats in the marina, he was lucky enough to watch on as a new yacht was delivered and lowered into the water by crane, he was mesmerised.

I dropped them home around 3pm and headed east. Had planned on making a stop at my cousins for coffee and chat before heading off the the Edinburgh School of Food & Wine for 7PM.

I was a few miles on the road when I ground to a virtual standstill, had it been a standstill it would have been easier on my knees and ankles but alas no, it was a snails crawl through 5 miles of traffic. To cut to the chase, I arrived at my first port of call, 2 hours and 15 minutes after starting a journey that should have taken 45minutes.

The reception, French cooking demo and dinner was great. Had a lovely evening and met some great people. One girl I met I am going to keep in touch with, a really interesting, informative and fun night. I left at 10.30pm and was home by 11.30pm. What a difference a few hours makes.

It all balanced out didn’t it? I just don’t get why it had too?

My bucket of delight at lunch drinking some of my soda & lime in a ‘proper’ glass, what a gent he is! Nic on Groundhog Day
