Another weekend closer to the school holidays has just passed. There is so much about the school holidays I love. The break from routine being the best of it for me. Of course the 7 weeks brings its pitfalls as the children tire of having to ‘think’ of things to do for themselves. I think this proves the need for structure in a child’s life. The daily routines are important and everyone playing their part in the order of things. There are always exceptions of course but my children, especially my eldest son, James, really struggles with no structure to his days. He floats and flits between things never really happy with what he is doing. To make matters worse for him he has 8 weeks off, an extra week due to his high schools refurbishing program. Finish 2 days before the girls and goes back 3 days later. Lord……….If your listening……..Help me!

Every summer the children all get a week on their own with their Grandparents, this year is no exception. That week the all love and really enjoy. They are lucky to have such wonderful Grandparents as they do. Grandad has just had his second cataract op so the plans are not yet complete but they will be as soon as he gets the all clear from the hospital next week.

Andrew is off the first 3 weeks in July, bar a few days here and there. The later of which we will do something as a family. The holidays last year were disrupted by the move to this house, this summer, the holidays plans are non excitstant due to the costs of getting this house in order! That is a whole other journal entry ;)

No scrapping done this weekend but I was working on gifts for teachers which should be finished later today although I have craft class this morning and a parents meeting/Rainbow and Brownie parties tonight to prepare for. Be glad when today is over.

I also heard the fantastic news that my cousin finished her degree and passed with flying colours. She is now has a B Sc Hons. So pleased for her. 5 years hard graft with 2 children and a husband who shocked us all by uping and walking out on them. I would have bet my life that they were a couple for life. They are my children’s Godparents too, can begin to express what I felt at the time. But happier days ahead as she fulfills her dreams. I wish her every success in her new career. You so deserve it girl!
