A Bondaweb Day!
This morning as always was our ladies group and today we had a lovely guest by the name of Mandy. Mandy had come as a very gifted crafter to show us how to make a fabric book cover.
We each had a pack which included pieces of cotton, bondaweb (bigger version of wondaweb, which I found amusing as I had chosen that word for a title in this blog hahah!) , sheer fabric, coloured plastic scraps and some printed instructions. We never read these as Mandy guided us through each stage. We made up 3 different cover sheets using different techniques. One with thread, glitter and other bits that took or fancy, layered and fused with the bondaweb onto a cotton sheet. The second was snips of plastic which was then covered in bubble wrap of all things and ironed to melt. The third was a painted piece of cotton, stamped, a bit of glitter and then ironed.
This photograph is a close up of the fabric and thread version.

We had to choose our favourite and use this for the book cover. This was a piece of fabric called Pelmet Vilene. New to me but it made a stiff cover and the sheets of decorated cotton could easily by glued using more bondaweb to this. Mine is not quite finished but I look forward to doing just that. The possibilities for these techniques in scrapping and card making are limitless.
How cool it was to add a new trick or two to the fast growing catalogue I am building. Mandy will be back in two weeks with another gem for us. Can?t wait.
Nicholas was much better today and I was relived, he was happy in the cr?che this morning and was good for Jeanette (the child minder) tonight and went down to bed easily. What a relief! Chelsea?s cold is getting better even though her croak sounds bad. Every one else is fine, well as fine as it gets around here.
Night Night!
